Welcome to your Chartwells School Dining Services website for Winston Salem / Forsyth County Schools.  We serve over 51,300 students daily with the goal of providing a quality education for each child.  We are proud of our 73 schools and the opportunities they offer. Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School District is the fifth-largest system in North Carolina and the 83rd largest in the nation.

When it comes to innovative programs, no one serves students better than Chartwells. As the leader in school dining services, Chartwells has the experience and insight to provide carefully planned and well-balanced meals that appeal to the younger appetites. Making sure kids enjoy what they eat can do wonders for growing minds. It has been Chartwells commitment for decades to provide these customized solutions to help kids achieve at the highest levels.

Chartwells in partnership with WS/FCS has implemented the Balanced Choices Meals and Snack Programs. This year all elementary schools will be a part of the Healthy Alliance. These schools will only offer healthy snack alternatives. As society becomes more aware of eating healthier, we offer only low fat and skim milk, smaller bottled beverages, exclusively whole-grain bread, a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Also, we are moving to discontinue all fried foods to the children in the WS/FCS district. (Click here to see our weekly nutritional analysis for the monthly menus.)

Chartwells and the Child Nutrition Department received an award for Social Responsibility after working with Piedmont Biofuels to convert used cooking oil into reusable biofuel in the 08-09 school year. The Child Nutrition department will focus on the same issue and more on recycling and becoming a Greener department.”

Chartwells School Dining Services and the Child Nutrition Department are excited about some the upcoming school year. We will oversee the mystery shopper program, continue with customer service training and follow up, add more new OutTakes stations in our middle and high schools. We will spotlight our Chartbusters program, create more youth advisory committees which are made up of students and staff at individual schools, and expanding our role in the school and local community.
